Bill Browder and Fusion GPS

Donald Trump repeatedly mischaracterizes reality in his Twitter feed. He has posted various inaccurate translations of news nearly every day. His recent tweet on Fusion GPS was totally mischaracterized and seemed to suggest that Bill Browder exonerated him with the Russians. That is thousands of miles away from the truth. You can hear Bill Browder interviewed on Randi Rhodes‘s podcast recently and her explanation of simple concepts regarding Bill Browder’s case are summarized from her show, below. (Everyone interested in the Trump-Russia collusion should subscribe to the Randi Rhodes show because she talks about it on a regular basis and her show is based in facts, not emotions).

In a tweet, Trump tried to tell us that Bill Browder’s testimony had been cancelled (it was moved up a day) because his testimony was unhelpful to Democrats. Again, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, Dana Rohrabacher, a man who is a foreign agent for Russia within our own government, received direction from Moscow to put off the testimony of Browder for a day.

GOP Lawmaker Got Direction From Moscow, Took It Back to D.C.

After being given a secret document by officials in Moscow, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher sought to alter sanctions legislation and tried to set up a virtual show trial on Capitol Hill.

Members of the team of Russians who secured a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner also attempted to stage a show trial of anti-Putin campaigner Bill Browder on Capitol Hill.

The trial, which would have come in the form of a congressional hearing, was scheduled for mid-June 2016 by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), a long-standing Russia ally who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe. During the hearing, Rohrabacher had planned to confront Browder with a feature-length pro-Kremlin propaganda movie that viciously attacks him—as well as at least two witnesses linked to the Russian authorities, including lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Rohrabacher is the reason the testimony was delayed, and it didn’t matter anyway, since Browder released his statement and testified the next day. What he told us was information that is very damaging to Trump’s claims of innocence in collusion with Russia. Below is the information from the Randi Rhodes show. Why did Fusion GPS work for the Russians, how the Russians operate, and why were they collection information on Donald Trump at the same time they were collecting it on Hillary Clinton? The Russians had collected kompromat (in part, the Steele dossier) on Trump and let him know they could blackmail him if he got out of line. The Russians were playing both sides in the 2016 election, because they really have no ideology, according to Browder. Putin is the richest man in the world (estimated at being worth $200 billion) and he’s terrified he’s not going to have access to his riches, which are spread out all over the world. Putin’s wealth is really in jeopardy because of the Magnitsky Act, which is a series of sanctions on Russia.

Fusion GPS should have registered as a foreign agent because they did work for Russia, but they didn’t. Fusion GPS did hire a guy to “look into Trump” but that doesn’t mean they didn’t want Trump to win the presidency. They did. They just wanted to see how tied to the Magnitsky Act Trump would be if he was elected. They weren’t sure. So that was the reason for the meeting in  June, 2016, at Trump Tower with Don Jr. and Steve Bannon and Manafort and the Russian lawyer, (Natalia Veselnitskaya, who once represented a Russian spy agency) was to get the sanctions against Putin’s wealth lifted. The premise of the meeting was the Russian gov. was on Trump’s side so that Don Jr. would meet with him. Don Jr. was overjoyed. “I love it” he replied in an email.

But Putin is just in the business of creating chaos everywhere. Fusion GPS was trying to find dirt on Trump and on Hillary in the early part of the campaign, for that reason.

Browder said he had no doubt the Russians hacked the DNC, Podesta’s emails, and whatever else they could hack, because they will “do anything they can get away with”.  Yet Trump still does not think they hacked our election in 2016, when they most certainly did, and possibly changed the outcome of the election.

Russia did do opposition research on every candidate in the 2016 election, but they chose Donald Trump because they preferred Donald Trump. When the Trump campaign found out Russia chose them, they decided to work together to get Trump elected. Putin hated Hillary, and he had met and done business with Donald Trump, so he wanted to help him win. The sanctions were something Russia wanted lifted, in exchange for their help getting Trump elected, and they most certainly did help Trump get elected.

It’s complicated, but it’s also really not so complicated.
